Transactions can be recorded in multiple currencies and converted into a base currency. Base currency is the primary currency on an account and is used as the default and reporting currency.
To set a base currency complete the following steps:
- Click on the gear icon at the top right
- Click on "Settings" in left menu
- Click on "Other" under Settings
- Click on the "Edit" button
- Select currency under "Base currency"
- Click the "Save" button
The base currency will automatically be assigned as the currency used for transactions with any of your vendors or customers unless you specifically assign a different currency to that vendor or customer.
To specifically assign a different currency to a vendor or customer complete the following steps:
- Click on "Contacts" in top menu
- Click on a vendor or customer in list of contacts
- Click on the "Edit" button
- Select currency under "Currency"
- Click the "Save" or "Save + New" button
Note that you can also assign a different currency when importing a list of vendors or customers.
If a different currency is assigned to a vendor or customer then when transactions are created for that vendor or customer an "Exchange rate" field will appear below the "Total". Users can then enter an exchange rate for the transaction and it will be used to convert the transaction into the base currency on the account.
